Sri Lanka Celebrates World Badminton Day 2025

On World Badminton Day 2025, celebrated in 164 countries around the world, Sri Lanka Badminton proudly joined the global spirit by organizing the BWF Walk 2025 under the inspiring theme: “Raise a Racket for World Badminton Day!” The celebration in Sri Lanka was a vibrant and energetic showcase of unity, enthusiasm, and our shared commitment to promoting badminton within the community. Over 350 individuals participated in the walk, including Executive Committee Members and General Committee Members of Sri Lanka Badminton, school representatives, National and Regional Development Badminton Pool players, coaches, SLB staff, school bands, Sri Lankan Papare bands, and decorated vehicles, all coming together to make the event a memorable success. We were honored to welcome Hon. Sugath Thilakaratne, M.P., Deputy Minister of Sports, Ministry of Sports, Sri Lanka, as the Chief Guest of the occasion, lending his gracious support to this meaningful initiative. We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to Mr. Buddhika De Silva, Chairman of the Coaching Development Committee and Vice President of Sri Lanka Badminton, along with his dedicated team, for their exceptional leadership and efforts in organizing this successful event. Sri Lanka Badminton is proud to have contributed to the Badminton World Federation’s global celebration, and we remain committed to fostering initiatives that unite the badminton community both locally and internationally.
